I’m back from my travels and trying to catch up on everything, including keeping up with all the photos I took in June.
I last posted some photos taken during my drive to California in early June. Once I got to California I continued posting to my daily photo blog at Mike’s 365 (scroll down to June 2013), as well as Flickr and other social media.
Now it’s time to share some of my favorites on this site! Today’s post features one of the last shots taken while in the Bay Area, as well as few taken during the drive home. More photos from the trip available on Flickr: June 2013 Travels, Carson Bike Trails and Santa Cruz Bike Trail.
The last day I was in the Bay Area I decided it was time to test myself and attempt to climb Old la Honda Road. It serves as a benchmark for local riders in terms of gauging both general riding fitness levels as well as climbing ability.
The ride is fairly short, only a bit over 3 miles one way.
The difficulty, and the challenge is the fact that there is close to a 1300 foot climb in those 3 short miles.
Well, I did it, in 44 minutes, and this is the view at the top where Old la Honda Road meets up with Skyline Drive.
There’s nothing really to say as this one speaks for itself. Yosemite Falls, Yosemite National Park.
I just love the view of Mono Lake, the town of Lee Vining and the rest, from this view point on Highway 395 heading south.
Twin Lakes is a special place, and we’ve been going there for well over 20 years now. Sometimes 2-3 years in a row, other times over 5 years between visits. Doesn’t matter, it’s always waiting when we get back.
This is a view from the back side of the lower lake.
This casual grab of the Utah desert taken at a rest area turned out rather nicely if I do say so myself.
