Fracture is a fractal screensaver for Mac OS X that creates some of the most fantastic, richly detailed fractal images I have ever seen.

I don’t normally configure a screensaver; preferring instead to simply allow the energy-savings mode to kick in. Fracture creates such lovely images that I not only spent the $10 dollars to purchase it, I now have my Powerbook go into screensaver mode for a few moments before resting more deeply.

The program has generated a few thousand images the past few weeks, and from those I’ve selected a nice variety which I’m using as a set of rotating (mine change hourly) background images.

Below are my absolute favorites, and I’ve also provided a gallery of the background images.
